The Department of Periodontology at SPPGIDMS, Lucknow was established almost two decades ago with an aim of improving the overall quality of periodontal practice in the country.

The department deals with the preventive and corrective measures in the management of gingival and periodontal diseases and is one of the pioneers in dental Implantology, placing more than 200 IMPLANTS in a year.
The undergraduate training programme commences in the 3rd year and includes lectures, practical exercises and patient work, which continues till internship. Undergraduate students are trained with skills to render non-surgical and preventive periodontal therapy.
