        Sardar Patel postgraduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences was one of the first Dental institute in the Northern Region of the country to introduce the post graduate program in the subject of Oral Medicine and Radiology in the year 2006, initially with 2 seats which gradually increased to 3 seats from the year 2011. The department was established by Stalwarts in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology and the curriculum\u00a0and the pattern\u00a0that was set up\u00a0and has further evolved over the past many years and is currently being monitored and taught by a group of extremely competent and knowledgeable faculty.<\/p>

        With an OPD of over 300 patients per day, the students get exposed to all the different kinds of Oral Lesions, Conditions and Systemic Diseases affecting the Oral Cavity preparing them to manage and provide medical treatment to such Oral Pathologies, TMJ Disorders and potentially Malignant Lesions. \u00a0The Department trains the students regarding all the basic aspects of oral medicine and radiology as well as acquainting them to the Recent Diagnostic and treatment modalities coming up in the field. Special emphasis is made on performing Research and students are made to undertake Research projects and publish them peer reviewed journals. The department is doing exceedingly well in research field, with a total research papers 45, in both National and International Journals of high repute.<\/p>

        The Department of Oral medicine at Sardar Patel also happens to be one of the few private dental colleges in the country to have the State of the art I-CAT CBCT MACHINE <\/strong>installed in the department equipped with the World\u2019s most Advanced Dental Software for analysis of Oro- Facial Trauma, Pathologies, Virtual Implant Planning which has revolutionized the Diagnosis and Treatment planning in all the aspects of dentistry. The post graduates are trained to interpret, analyse and prepare detailed reports of the different CBCT images giving them that extra edge over their contemporaries in other Dental Colleges. The Department is upgraded with the advanced and latest model of fully digital OPG Machine.\u00a0 Many of our passed out students are presently working as Specialized Oral Radiologists in some of the most Prestigious Institutes and Centres across the country. The Department has organized several Courses and CDE programs wherein extensive training was provided to students.<\/p>

        The students are extensively trained in numerous chair side procedures including BIOPSIES<\/strong>, EXCISIONS<\/strong>, and various ORAL CANCER DETECTION TESTS <\/strong>strengthening the student\u2019s abilities in formulating an accurate diagnosis and its management.<\/p>

        The State of the Art LASER CENTRE <\/strong>exposes the postgraduate student to perform and enhance their skills in numerous procedures, diagnostic as well as therapeutic during their three-year course.\u00a0<\/p>

        The department has in the past hosted various NATIONAL CONFERENCES <\/strong>where they have had delegates from across the country. The Department has organised various lectures from the stalwarts in the field of oral medicine and radiology namely Dr Gnanasundaram sir, Dr. Shalu Rai, Dr. Bhowate, Dr. Frenny Karjodker. Undergraduates, Post Graduates, and Faculty members are encouraged to participate and present Scientific posters\/ papers in the conferences organized in different parts of the country and many have received appreciation and prizes in the past many years.<\/p>

        The post graduates are meticulously trained over the period of 3 years to effectively manage simple and complex cases. \u00a0A full-fledged radiology department at the Dr. O. P. Chaudhary Hospital ensures the postgraduate is methodically trained in ULTRASONOGRAPHY<\/strong>, CT- SCAN <\/strong>and Conventional whole body X-RAYS <\/strong>as well.<\/p>

        The department has also in the past collaborated with prestigious Institutes like SANJAY GANDHI POST GRADUATE INSTITUTE <\/strong>and RAM MANOHAR LOHIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES<\/strong>, where the Post Graduate students have obtained training in advance Imaging Modalities like MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) <\/strong>and NUCLEAR MEDICINE.<\/strong><\/p>

        During the 3-year program the post graduate student gets posted in the DERMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT <\/strong>of the Institutes General Hospital where the students get a better understanding of various skin lesions and Lesions manifesting both in the Oral Cavity and on the Skin which provide an additional dimension to the Diagnostic skills of the Post Graduate.<\/p>

        The Department of oral medicine serves as the primary reference centre for SANJAY GANDHI POST GRADUATE INSTITUTE <\/strong>to handle all the complications that occur during the treatment of oral cancer giving the students exposure to plethora of cases. Furthermore, the post graduate is posted at the LUCKNOW CANCER INSTITUTE <\/strong>for a considerable period of time where the student is apprised of the various treatment modalities of oral cancer including RADIOTHERAPY <\/strong>and CHEMOTHERAPY <\/strong>and observes LIVE ONCO-SURGERY <\/strong>for oral Cancer patients.<\/p>

        All students are made to have an experience in the latest division of the field, <\/strong>i.e. FORENSIC ODONTOLOGY<\/strong>. Students are posted at the forensic lab where they are trained by professional experts and are also involved in discussions of criminal acts that have recently occurred in the City.<\/p>

        Adding a feather in the cap in academic excellence our 2 students have been University Toppers, Dr. Debanti Giri (MDS III 2015)<\/strong> and Dr. Sonalika (MDS I 2021)<\/strong><\/p>

        The students passing out from this institute, thus, have the knowledge and ability to MANAGE <\/strong>each and every case, no matter how simple or complicated that they come across or are presented with.
