        PAEDODONTICS & PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY<\/strong><\/h2>

        The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at the Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental & Medical Sciences, Lucknow, has a rich history and legacy. Department provides required and elective specialized training to dental students. The department strives to provide patient centered and evidence-based approaches to treatment. It conducts pioneering research to test treatment effectiveness, develop novel technologies and treatments, and advance basic knowledge of human development and pathology. It provides service in the form of continuing education, treatment of vulnerable patient populations, as well as active participation and leadership in professional organizations. It is a place where total dental care is provided to children from birth through adolescence including children with special health care needs. Undergraduates are trained to develop necessary clinical skills for providing basic dental care to children with emphasis on preventive dentistry. The Faculty and Postgraduates are trained in all aspects of advanced Paediatric Dentistry including care of very young children and specially disabled children.<\/p>

        The Department\u2019s mission is to encourage a culture of collaboration, collegiality and helpfulness based on empathy and Shape the future leaders of dentistry. We try to be the best at all we do and promote integrity, professionalism, and accountability to ensure ethical decision making and commit to honest transparent communication to build relationships along with knowledge to foster problem-solving and leading to new discovery.<\/p>

        The three-year residency program in the department is designed to meet the requirements that allows academic and clinical knowledge to all the post graduates in the field of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry. It collaborates with all other specialties including medical specialties in an effort to provide more holistic care.<\/p>

        The Department is well equipped with:<\/strong><\/p>

        • CHILD FRIENDLY RECEPTION AREA which is a \u2018VISUAL TREAT FOR CHILDREN\u2019<\/li>
        • RVG, INTRAORAL CAMERA, ENDOMOTOR and highly qualified and TRAINED NURSING STAFF.<\/li>
        • GENERAL ANESTHESIA for management of DISABLED CHILD IN OPERATION THEATRE with PROPER RECOVERY ROOM and ICU- FACILITIES.\u00a0<\/li>
        • Manage MEDICALLY COMPROMISED PATIENTS such as RENAL DISEASES, CARDIAC DISEASES, HAEMOPHILIC, SYNDROMIC patients etc. referred from SGPGI\u00a0<\/li>
        • We care and manage medically compromised patients such as renal diseases, cardiac diseases, hemophilic patients etc. referred from SGPGI at frequent intervals which is situated 1-2 kms away from our dental college.<\/li>
        • Secondary health education programs based on prevention of oro-dental diseases in children by providing preventive procedures and appropriate parent and child counseling are being conducted by our department in schools around Lucknow.<\/li>
        • Also, the department runs an exclusive school health program for underprivileged children of schools around Lucknow.<\/li><\/ul>

          The post graduate students in the department learns to perform OPD duties along with management of uncooperative child. During the first year of their residency program, a post graduate carry out preclinical activities like fabrication of various space maintainers, wax carving, suturing technique, wire bending and soldering, endodontic and restorative procedures on extracted and Typhodont, cephalometric tracings and making of Myofunctional and various habit breaking appliances.<\/p>

          Apart from all preclinical activities of the department, post graduate prepares him\/her for all national level conferences for paper and poster presentations, table clinic and case presentations. The post graduate are trained to carry out a two and half year research work based on new ideas related to the various aspects of Pediatric Dentistry.<\/p>\t\t\t\t <\/div>\n\t\t \n
