Department Of Public Health Dentistry

The Department has been running post graduate programme successfully since 2006 May. The Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India has recognized three seats per year in this speciality.

The department boasts of a full-fledged dental health education museum, where OPD patients are educated on routine basis. Undergraduate teaching and Post Graduate training in the department is running regularly.

Comprehensive care treatment and preventive care patients are regularly attended by the students. Various Nodal centres, including the District Jail have been adopted by the department. The department is conducting outreach programmes regularly for the underserved population and deprived communities. Basic oral health care services are provided free of cost while they are referred to the parent institution for complex treatment. School children are also provided care through school health programmes conducted as a part and parcel of the academic curriculum. Teacher's training programmes are routinely done along with them.

Post graduate students have attended various national and state level conferences and P. G. Conventions. Several scientific deliberations are credited to faculty members and Post Graduate students. Eleven research papers have been published in both national and international journals. Seven more are in line to be published. Post Graduate students have won awards in various categories from best scientific paper presentation to academic excellence.

Tobacco counselling centre is another feather of the gloried crown of the department, where tobacco addicted patients are counselled to lead a better quality of life.
