The goal of the Orthodontics program is to provide a basic and advance deducation in Orthodontics for an improved understanding of the diagnosis and treatment planning of various types of malocclusions and increased skill in their management.
Undergraduate Education in Orthodontics
Undergraduate program in Orthodontics is designed to enable the qualifying dental surgeon to diagnose, analyze and treat common Orthodontic problems by preventive, interceptive and corrective Orthodontic procedures.
Postgraduate Residency Program in Orthodontics
The program devotes a considerable portion of time to advanced basic science courses specially organized to serve as a prerequisite to the thorough understanding of the clinical problems in Orthodontics.
In the clinical area, we do not worship any singIe appIiance. The student is exposed to different therapeutic philosophies including Edgewise; Begg’s; Tip Edge; PEA (Roth and M.B.T); advanced philosophies like Ceramic; seIf Ligating and Lingual mechanotherapies and special procedures like that of TAD (Micro-implants).
The department records a good inflow of patients which includes exposure to cases with Dentofacial Orthopedics; Cleft lip and palate repair; Orthographic surgeries and Distraction Ontogenesis.
The highly qualified; experienced and skilled staff members as well as postgraduate students have not only National and International publications to their name but many presentations presented at various National and International Orthodontic Conferences and Conventions.
The department boasts of conducting various CDE (Continuing Dental Education) programs till date including the M.B.T. – Hands on by Dr. Anmol Kalha ; Lingual Orthodontics — Hands on by Dr. Tushar Hegde and various interdisciplinary presentations forthe welfare of post graduate students.
Apart from Labs, Seminar room, Library and Wi-Fi enabled Work stations; the department presents a state of art Photography room equipped with bounce flashes and SLR camera, along with Advanced Digital Imaging Diagnostic Software (Nemoceph) to aid students for better and accurate treatment planning.
